A good free web builder should be able to help you create a website in a matter of minutes.

It may even be convenient enough for you to use for other occasions as well. But if you are not in a hurry and you really insist on using a free web builder, understand that there are some limitations in using the free web builder.

Template Selection can be Limited

A web builder that promises to make the work very quick relies on a number of templates with placeholders so all you need to do is supply these placeholders with text and / or images. But a web builder will not really serve people well if there is only one template to choose. Every generated website should look unique which is why a lot of free web builders offer a greater degree of customization by offering more templates to choose from. Still, you are limited to those templates and those layouts. If you need something even slightly different such a 3-column layout for instance, you might be out of luck.

Coding is not Possible or Very Restricted

If you have your own hosting provider, you should be able to change your webpages whenever you need to. But if you already made the site using a free website builder, normally, your only chance of editing is to run the same builder again. If you want to make a very special edit such as adding a widget to your layout, you might find yourself looking for another option.

Site Structure May Not Be Very Flexible

Many of the free builders allow you to make a single page. This is useful for people that want to make capture pages for their affiliate marketing campaigns but not as much if you want to design a website that showcase your portfolio and contact information. Other web builders may limit you to adding a certain number of pages.

Some free builders may have more features than others so give them a try if you think the features are not as limited as other web builders.
